The overnight pop sensation Carly Rae Jepson, who sings “Call Me Maybe” is 27 years old. Now, I’m not trying to say that 27 is old, because it’s not. But I am saying that 27 is older than you were expecting for such jr. high phone lingo.
Carly Rae is a Canadian pop star who competed and placed 3rd in a season of Canadian Idol (I wonder if their version of Randy is RandEH? Get it? Canada?) and was touring with them after the show ended. She worked independently for a while before the savior of all of Canada, Justin Bieber, came across her and referred her to his manager, Scooter Braun (who discovered the Biebs many years ago). Braun signed her, out came Call Me Maybe, and here we are. If you haven’t heard the song (I have no clue how you have made it this long), you need to check it out.
Be warned: It will be stuck in your head.
Be warned: You will both love it and hate it. I was one of the few who just plain loved it.
Be warned: The video is surprisingly hilarious and takes a jaw-dropping turn at the end.
Lastly, her video has 390 MILLION views. Hopefully someone has called her by now, or there’s not much hope.
